Hugo: 《肖申克的救贖》與《阿甘正傳》

1994年美國的奧斯卡典禮上，出現了《The Shawshank Redemption》與《Forrest Gump》兩部精采的電影；這兩部電影，都在探討人追求生命的意義。

《The Shawshank Redemption》是從人追求Freedom與Hope的角度，來探討人生命存在的意義；《Forrest Gump》是從人追求Life與Love的角度，來探討人生命存在的意義。

然而，這“兩種追求價值理念的態度”與“探討人生命存在的意義”的精神，卻是漢文化所欠缺的；漢文化是一種代表專制與奴役的文化，在這種文化型態下，人只能關注最基本的人存在的條件與資源，那就是權力與財富，而不是生命存在的意義。

在兩部電影裡，有一些極為感動人心的話，這在漢文化的世界裡是永遠不可能發生的；這些話所思考的內在意義與精神高度，也是漢文化的世界裡永遠不可能達到的，不是嗎？茲列如下，以供欣賞。

《The Shawshank Redemption》 :

“Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free. A strong man can save himself. A great man can save another.”

“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”

“Some birds aren't meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are just too bright... ”

“These walls are kind of funny like that. First you hate them, then you get used to them. Enough time passed, get so you depend on them. That`s institutionalized. ”

《Forrest Gump》

“Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.”

“Now you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running! ”

“You have to do the best what God gave you.”

“I am stupid, but I know what love is.”

“There's only so much fortune a man really needs, and the rest is just for showing off.”

“You got to put the past behind before you can move on.”
