在邁向光明大道之旁，有人正在賣精品，賣主對所有的顧客說，“凡同時買‘火煉的金子’、‘白衣’與‘眼藥’者，就免費送一頂‘Liberal spirit and liberal democracy’的帽子！”；一條來自女媧國的蛇貪婪地問賣主，“我可否不買這三樣精品，而免費獲得一頂‘Liberal spirit and liberal democracy’的帽子？”路旁的螢火蟲氣憤地說，“經上說，‘ So, because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth. Because you say: I am rich and have acquired riches and do not need anything at all, but you do not know you are miserable and pitiable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from me gold refined by fire that you may become rich, and white outer garments that you may become dressed and that the shame of your nakedness may not become manifested, and eyesalve to rub in your eyes that you may see. All those for whom I have affection I reprove and discipline.
