The Mystery of Godliness Revealed: Christ Manifested and Glorified
1 Timothy 3:16 declares, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
This verse summarizes the core of the Christian faith-the word of Jesus Christ became flesh, served God, and glorified God.It profoundly proclaims the sacred mystery that is now revealed in Christ, Jesus is both God and Savior (Titus 2:13).
The mystery begins with God manifested in the flesh (John 1:14), pointing to Jesus as Emmanuel—“God with us” (Matthew 1:23).
Jesus' justification by the Spirit (Romans 1:4), Jesus' witness among angels (Luke 2:13–14), and Jesus' global proclamation (Matthew 28:19–20) demonstrate Jesus' divine authority and mission.
Belief in Jesus among the nations and His ascension into glory (Acts 1:9–11) confirm Jesus' eternal kingship and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.
To truly understand and live in the depth of this mystery, one must go beyond intellectual assent. Jesus says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).
Jesus also says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom… but he who does the will of My Father in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).
Only those who love God with all their heart and soul, who keep the commands of Jesus, and who walk in obedience to the Father’s will can fully enter into the mystery and power of 1 Timothy 3:16.
Such people do not merely recite the mystery—they embody it. They live lives that testify to the risen Christ, bearing fruit that glorifies the One who was received up into glory.
