Come to Jesus to Receive Life
In this end-time generation, the devil continually uses all kinds of lies to turn people away from the truth, shifting their focus from Jesus Christ to knowledge, religion, and human wisdom. Many people often ask me, “How many times have you read the Bible?” My response is always, “Are you willing to come to Jesus and receive life?”
In these last days, many people place great importance on religious knowledge, theological theories, and biblical studies, yet they easily overlook the most important truth that Jesus taught: to come to Him and receive life.
The purpose of the Scriptures is not merely to increase our knowledge, but to lead us to know Jesus Christ, obey His words, abide in Him, and ultimately receive the eternal life that God has promised. The following passages, based on the teachings of Jesus, explain how a person can truly come to Him and receive life.
John 5:39–40
“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that testify about Me. Yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.”
From this passage, we see that many people diligently study the Scriptures but focus their attention on knowledge, theological debates, and spiritual pride, while overlooking the true purpose of the Scriptures—to lead people to Jesus so that they may receive life.
How, then, can a person truly come to Jesus and receive life?
John 14:23
Jesus answered, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling with him.”
John 15:10
“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”
John 10:27–28
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”
Matthew 24:13
“But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
Revelation 2:10
“Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor's crown.”
From these passages, we understand that only those who hear the voice of Jesus, obey His words, and faithfully follow Him can truly receive Him. Only those who receive Christ can abide in Him, and only those who continue to abide in Him—enduring to the end and remaining faithful unto death—will ultimately inherit the eternal life that God has promised.
Conclusion
Jesus Christ is the Lord of life and the only source of eternal life. A person may diligently study the Scriptures, pursue religious knowledge, or engage in religious practices, but if they are unwilling to obey the words of Jesus, they cannot truly come to Him and receive life.
Only by sincerely listening to the voice of Jesus, obeying His commandments, abiding continually in His love, enduring to the end, and remaining faithful unto death can a person truly receive Christ, abide in Him, and inherit the eternal life that God has promised.
Therefore, every believer should come to Jesus every day, wholeheartedly, faithfully, and obediently keeping His commandments, serving Him, glorifying His holy name, and bearing witness to His truth through their lives. By remaining faithful until the day they meet the Lord, they will receive the crown of life and inherit the promise of eternal life. Amen.
