1863年11月19日，亞伯拉罕•林肯（Abraham Lincoln，1809年2月12日－1865年4月15日）在Gettysburg National Cemetery，發表了著名的Gettysburg Address。
他在此演講裡說，“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that this nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate—we can not consecrate—we can not hallow—this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. 主耶穌基督說，“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”(Matthew 22:37)、“Love your neighbor as yourself”(Matthew 22.40) 、“Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who treat you badly”(Luke 6.27-28)、“Love one another; just as I have loved you, you also must love one another. By this love you have for one another, everyone will know that you are my disciples”(John13.34-35)、“You know the commandments: you must not kill... ”(Mark 10.18) 、“You know the commandments: Never commit adultery. Never murder. Never steal. Never give false testimony. Honor your father and mother”(Luke 18:20)、“Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me”(John 14.21)、“Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”(John14:6)，這些都是光，這些都是消滅黑暗、邪惡、專制與奴隸等文化的光！
我堅信，在主耶穌基督之光裡，所有壓迫者必然會滅亡，而“Individualism, Liberalism, Love, Righteousness, Justice, Humanity、Life, Faith, Truth, Freedom, Democracy, Equality, Rule of law、Human rights、Happiness、Peace”等價值理念，終將成為未來人類文明的主體！
